Position Summary:
The Hardware Installer is responsible for the precise installation of mechanical hardware—including pins, helicoils, inserts, studs, and other fasteners—onto precision-machined vacuum chamber parts used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure exact hardware placement and orientation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install hardware such as helicoils, dowel pins, threaded inserts, keyserts, and other fasteners into aluminum, stainless steel, and other materials used in vacuum chamber assemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, mechanical drawings, and written work instructions to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Use appropriate hand tools, fixturing, and installation equipment (e.g., torque wrenches, arbor presses, pneumatic tools) for precise installation.
- Inspect installed hardware for proper fit, alignment, torque, and thread integrity per quality standards.
- Work closely with quality inspectors and engineers to address drawing or tolerance discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including hardware lot traceability and process documentation.
- Follow all safety protocols and cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment requirements.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to assembly processes, tool efficiency, and quality assurance.
- Support other assembly or sub-component hardware tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly or hardware installation in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and GD&T symbols.
- Proficiency with basic hand and power tools, measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.), and torque control tools.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Preferred:
- Experience working with vacuum components or semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with cleanroom or ISO manufacturing environments.
- Experience following AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality system standards.
- Knowledge of ESD and FOD prevention practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, or perform assembly tasks for extended periods.
- Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Excellent manual dexterity and vision for precise component handling.
Work Environment:
- Clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
- May require use of cleanroom garments or PPE depending on process requirements.
